Switched at Birth is an American television film that was released in 1991. It was directed by Waris Hussein and written by Maria Nation. The film stars Bonnie Bedelia, Brian Kerwin, John M. Jackson, and William O'Leary. The plot revolves around two families who discover that their daughters were switched at birth in the hospital. The families struggle to come to terms with the truth and decide whether to keep their biological children or switch them back to their original families. The film was well-received and won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Children's Program in 1992. It is not to be confused with the TV series with the same name, which premiered in 2011.
